This is usually needed by the developers for some specific application that are old but not that much brilliant to hold the new ones.So going to solve one more issue that happened to me after upgrading my system from 12.04 to 14.04 ubuntu and suddenly apache upgraded, php upgraded and so many things were there.
Now lets move to the solution of our topic moving from php 5.5 to php 5.3 as follows:
All that I have figured out with my installation was helped out at : http://www.ubuntugeek.com/how-to-downgrade-php-version-from-5-4-to-5-3-in-ubuntu-12-10-quantal.html
There is a sh file which will be useful for our downgrade but after going through this file make sure you have to choose various options on the script running at your terminal.
Download the file from here [Courtsey: www.ubuntugeek.com/]
Then as per the article give permission to file as 755 and then run the file and follow the instructions that appears on the screen i.e. terminal in ubutnu.
Hope it helps someone one day SMILE :)
